Pennsylvania colleges and universities grabbed top spots in the U.S. News and World Report 2015 Best Colleges rankings. The University of Pennsylvania fell a spot from last year, earning the No. 8 spot. Other Pennsylvania schools making the Top 50: Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh at 25; Lehigh University in Bethlehem at 40 and Penn State ranked 48. Abortion rights groups rallied in Love Park Tuesday afternoon to demand federal funding for abortions. Jess Aarons of the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals says it takes bravery to take on the issue of abortion funding at this time, when abortion opponents have succeeded at curbing access to abortion across the country, but she says the issues are related. The newly opened Dilworth Park outside City Hall is photogenic and worthy of a student film crew from Temple. Not so fast. Ten students from Temple showed up to shoot video when staff members from the Center City District, which manages the park, told the students who had set up a camera on a tripod to interview people, they had to shut down. The City later said there was a rule in place prohibiting professional film companies, and apologized to the students.

Home Depot says the breach of its payment data systems happened in the spring; they didn't spot it until this month. An early morning shooting in West Philadelphia has left a man fighting for his life. Police say a 24-year-old man was sitting on the front porch of his home when he was shot twice in the back. A friend of the victim tried to take him to the hospital, but on the way they were involved in a minor car accident. No one was injured in the crash. Police have formally identified the victim found shot to death inside a burning car early this week. Authorities responded to a the car fire on Wed September 3rd around 7:45pm on the 6100 block of N. Lawrence Street in Olney. After extinguishing the flames they discovered the body of 24-year-old Raffael Rivera, who had also been shot.
