Drexel Dinosaur Discovery, E-cigarette Retailer Fine, Chaka Fattah Grants Interviews

Scientists in Philadelphia unveiled details about a new dinosaur species believed to be among the largest land animals that ever lived. Dreadnoughtus schrani, is a dinosaur discovered by a team of scientists from Drexel University. At 85 feet long, it weighed as much as a dozen African elephants and more than seven T. Rex. Its discovery was made by Drexel Professor Kenneth Lacovara along with more than 100 scientists and volunteers in the Patagonia section of Argentina. The find of 145 bones represents the most complete skeleton ever of this type.

Retailers will now get a fine if they are caught selling e-cigarettes to minors in Philadelphia. In April, Mayor Michael Nutter made it illegal to sell e-cigarettes to people under age 18. Philadelphia Health Commissioner Dr. James Buehler says since then, retailers have received a warning for not enforcing the law. $250 is the fine to those retailers who are not in compliance with this new legislation.

Philadelphia Congressman Chaka Fattah is finally granting interviews, again, after last week’s guilty plea by a long-time aide to charges he helped cover up campaign fraud for an unnamed elected official. Congressman Fattah was quiet for several days after his former chief of staff Greg Naylor pleaded guilty to taking part in a scheme to divert federal funds to campaign debt, and campaign funds to student loan debt, during the 2007 Philadelphia mayoral race, when Naylor worked for Fattah.
