Home Depot Security Breach, Perdue Chicken Recall, Nutter To Sign Marijuana Decriminalization Bill

If you shopped at any Home Depot at any time since April and paid with plastic, you could be a victim. Home Depot says the breach of its payment data systems happened in the spring; they didn't spot it until this month. The chain already has set up identity theft protection services, including credit monitoring - available free to customers who shopped during the breach. More details are at: https://homedepot.allclearid.com/. Counterfeit credit cards believed to be from this attack, and forged with information from people in our area already are on the black market. HomeDepot.com and stores outside of the US and Canada donâ€™t appear to be affected.

Perdue Food LLC, a Salisbury, MD establishment, is recalling about 720 pounds of raw, fresh chicken products because they may have experienced a processing deviation in temperature during production, the U.S. Department of Agricultureâ€™s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Saturday. The products subject to the recall include 80-lb. cardboard boxes, containing approximately 28, 2.5-lb. ice-packed, sealed packages of â€œCookinâ€™ Good Whole Young Chickensâ€ with giblets and necks. The products were produced Sept. 3, 2014 and then shipped to a New York distributor for re-sale and food service use in Connecticut, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. The packages bear the establishment number â€œP-764â€ on the box. Consumers with questions about the recall may contact Perdue Consumer Affairs at 800-4Perdue (800-473-7383).

Mayor Nutter today agreed to sign into law a bill that essentially decriminalizes possession of small amounts of marijuana. Now, councilman Jim Kenney and the mayor have reached an agreement: the infraction would result in whatâ€™s called a â€œnon-summary civil offense.â€ People will pay a fine based on the offense: $25 for the possession of anything under an ounce. Anyone cited would be required to make an appearance before a Municipal Court judge, but there would be no criminal record. Those caught smoking marijuana in public would face a $100 fine, which could be waived if they agree to several hours of public service.
