Philadelphia Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley has abruptly resigned over his handling of partial human remains from victims of the 1985 MOVE bombing. Today, 5/13, is the 36th anniversary of the tragedy in West Philadelphia. In 2017, Medical Examiner Sam Gulino found remains in a box related to the investigation of the bombing. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) says that the fire that destroyed the historic St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church in Tacony on Sunday, 5/9, was intentionally set. They said that the fire was 'incendiary in nature.' The ATF and the Citizens Crime Commission are offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Eight people were injured when a car crashed into an outdoor eating area of a restaurant in Northern Liberties on Wednesday morning, 5/12. It happened around 10:45 at Cafe La Maude on the 800 block of North 4th Street. The exact cause of the crash is not yet clear, but a silver sedan with front end damage is left at the scene. The FBI raided the largest Hindu temple in the United States on Tuesday, 5/11, over allegations of forced labor and other claims made in a civil lawsuit. A massive two-alarm fire destroyed a historic church in Philadelphia's Tacony section on Sunday afternoon, 5/9. It started around 5:30 p.m. at St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church on the 6600 block of Keystone Street near Unruh Ave. Fire crews arrived to heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof.
