The mother of a 3-year-old girl found dead in Delaware 18 months ago has now been charged with her murder. Attorney General Kathy Jennings announced on Tuesday, 5/4 that 28-year-old Kristie Haas is facing two counts of first-degree child murder by abuse or neglect. The burned body of Emma Cole was found on September 13, 2019 at the Smyrna-Clayton Little Lass softball fields in Smyrna, DE. A computer forensic sketch of the girl helped identify her. Her mother Kristie and 38-year-old stepfather Brandon Haas had been charged with First Degree Child Abuse and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Kristie Haas was also previously charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Abusing a Corpse, and Reckless Burning. They are accused of depriving Emma of food and medical attention. Emma was also subjected to excessive forced exercise and inappropriate physical discipline along with her siblings.

Former Bucks County assistant district attorney Gregg Shore has paid back almost $8,500 for time he spent delivering for DoorDash while on the clock for the county. District Attorney Matt Weintraub demoted Shore to deputy district attorney back on March 18. "What he has done is indefensible, thoughtless, selfish and so stupid," Weinstraub said at the time. He decided to demote Shore to deputy district attorney instead of fire him "in light of all of his years of public service." It was previously announced that Shore paid the county back using accrued vacation time. County Controller Neale Dougherty said that method was not proper. Shore had also under reported his time working for DoorDash by 40 hours.

At the time of his demotion Shore said, "Due to my personal circumstances, there were times that I worked a second job delivering food during the COVID pandemic. I primarily worked the job at night and on weekends. However, I made the incredibly poor decision to deliver during the workday at times." Shore decided to resign on April 14.
