A large fire destroyed at least three homes along the beach in Sea Isle City, NJ late this afternoon. The fire started around 4:30pm at 78th Street at Pleasure Avenue on the beachside. The fire quickly engulfed the homes, spewing smoke into the air seen for many miles around. Fire crews were called from Sea isle, Avalon and Oceanview. The cause of the fire has not been determined. Today is Good Friday, the start of the Easter weekend. Around Philadelphia, public and parochial schools are closed as are local and state courts, libraries, city agencies and recreation centers. One man is dead and another man is hospitalized in critical condition after a shooting Thursday night. It happened shortly before 6 p.m. in the 5700 block of Newtown Street in Philadelphia's Lawncrest neighborhood. Both men were duct taped around their head, eyes and wrists. Police say six shell casings were found at the scene.

A local couple are now proud parents of quite a hefty bundle of joy. Waldo James Mysterious Dwyer was born at Delaware County Memorial Hospital in Drexel Hill on Monday weighing in at 13 pounds 8 1/2 ounces. His mother, Danielle Dwyer, says he's healthy and doing well. She was expecting a large baby, but not that big. Waldo was born via C-section and a few weeks past due. And the name? A New Jersey mom has some explaining to do in front of a judge after she allegedly tried to kill her three teenage children when she drove their mini-van into the Delaware River. Joann Smith of Florence Township, due in court today, was seen having ice cream with her children just before driving them down a boat ramp into the river. A Pennsylvania state lawmaker from our area is pushing to make kindergarten mandatory in public schools and to improve the accessibility of Pre-K. Pennsylvania and New Jersey are among the six states that do not have a law requiring school districts to provide kindergarten for young students. A Montgomery County man is facing charges for furnishing alcohol to teenagers at a party hosted for his daughter. Arthur Blumenthal held a large Sweet 16 party for his daughter at their home on Woodruff Road in Whitemarsh Township on March 21st. Miley Cyrus has been hospitalized and had to cancel a show in Kansas City. The pop singer apparently suffered a severe negative reaction to antibiotics she had been taking. A SWAT standoff has ended in Pitman, Glocuester County Tuesday. Pitman Police responded around 3 p.m. to a home near near Columbia Avenue and Delsea Drive. Police then summoned the Gloucester County Special Weapons and Tactics Team which negotiated with the barricaded man until his voluntary surrender shortly before 8 p.m. Investigators say the man was taken to the hospital.
