Two years after Penn State ripped down a statue of the late Joe Paterno, a group is working to commission a new one — with a fundraising campaign beginning this summer and a renowned Montgomery County sculptor tapped to create it. The group of State College residents pushing for the new sculpture want to put it across the street from campus. Glenside artist Zenos Frudakis is designing this Paterno in bronze on a bench. Penn State says it’s not involved in the plan.

Police in Havertown raided the home of a local ophthalmologist on Wednesday and arrested the doctor and his daughter for growing and selling marijuana from the residence. 58-year-old Dr. Paul Ezell and his 23-year-old daughter Victoria have been charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession with the intent to sell a controlled substance, as well as criminal conspiracy. The Chester Police Department is being investigated by the Delaware County District Attorney. Detectives served a warrant and are looking into evidence missing from the evidence room at Chester Police on East 7th Street. Apparently the allegation and complaint to the DA came from within the Chester Police Department.

Gunfire erupted early this afternoon in Trenton at the funeral of a teenager killed earlier this month. Three people were shot and one person is in custody. It happened just after 12:00 pm at the Galilee Baptist Church, located in the 400 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Montgomery County authorities have filed charges against nine people in connection with the drug trafficking operation focused on distributing drugs to students at five high schools and three colleges on the Main Line. The "Main Line Take Over Project" was run by two former students of the prestigious Haverford School, Neil Scott and Timothy Brooks who would use sub-dealers at the schools to distribute marijuana, cocaine, hash oil and ecstasy.

A Camden County teenager is missing and police are looking for help from the public locating him. Michael Edwards is 15 years old and was last seen Saturday night when he left his home on Berkley Street. Edwards is a black male, about 5 feet 5 inches tall and 120 pounds, last seen wearing a red sweatshirt and blue jeans. Anyone with information should contact Camden County Police.

A man in Gloucester County, New Jersey died Sunday afternoon from injuries suffered during a skydiving accident. The parachuter was injured after jumping from a plane that had departed from Freefall Adventure. The 49-year-old diver – identified as Arkady Shenker — reportedly landed in an open area on Tuckahoe Road in Monroe Township.
