Chester Police Probe, U of Delaware Students Arrested, Schools Surprised by Drug Ring

The Chester Police Department is being investigated by the Delaware County District Attorney. Detectives served a warrant and are looking into evidence missing from the evidence room at Chester Police on East 7th Street. Apparently the allegation and complaint to the DA came from within the Chester Police Department.

Three University of Delaware students were arrested in connection with a home invasion and assault last weekend. Charges were files against Ayrton Doerr, Andrew Lee and Jason Zimmell for forcing their way into the apartment of a female student and assaulting her male companion. The victim, also a student, required stitches in his face and head.

The operation that took down the Main Line Takeover Project drug ring came as a surprise to administrators at the schools involved. Narcotics investigators say school systems do not want to work with law enforcement on such cases fearing image damage to the school. The leaders of the drug ring are both alumni from the prestigious private prep The Haverford School and sold drugs at Lower Merion, Harriton, Conestoga, Radnor high schools and several colleges.
