Philadelphia mayor Jim Kenney held an event on Thursday where he announced a major investment in programs to help the city's small business landscape. With the new investment, Kenney says the programs will now be able to provide key financing to under-served businesses across Philadelphia. Kenney expressed that he is optimistic that more business could mean less crime. The new investments are expected to create new jobs and revitalize city neighborhoods.

Tropical Storm Hermine has been upgraded to a Hurricane by the National Weather Service with maximum sustained winds now exceeding 75mph. It will make landfall on Florida's Gulf Coast tonight or tomorrow morning as it continues to head northeast. A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket apparently exploded on its Florida launch pad today during a dress rehearsal for a satellite launch, which had been scheduled for this weekend. Thick black smoke and flames could be seen billowing from Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. Social media users in the area reported hearing and feeling several consecutive blasts from the direction of the pad.

It has happened again. A 12-year-old girl was shot and wounded by a stray bullet in the city's Fairhill neighborhood. She was just one of three innocent bystanders hit in a triple shooting in which at least 19 shots were fired. Police say gunfire broke out just before 6:30pm Tuesday at N. Marshall and W. Authorities now say that it was an argument, not the so called 'knockout game,' which triggered a fatal punch. The incident was caught on camera in the city's Lawncrest section. The punch sent 30-year-old Mardoqeo Sincal-Jochola stumbling to the ground. He died as a result of his injuries, shortly after. The incident happened Friday in the 700 block of Adams Avenue. Police are searching for the suspects.

Five people have been charged in yesterday's shootings on the Atlantic City Expressway in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. One person was killed and four people were injured. The shootout happened on the eastbound Expressway near the Garden State Parkway around 3pm. Shots were fired between multiple vehicles. The Marine Mammal Stranding Center in Brigantine, New Jersey is treating Loggerhead Sea Turtle after a run in with a boat propeller. Staff there rescued the 140 lb. female Thursday near the Oyster Creek Nuclear plant, after it was apparently injured by a boat propeller. The female loggerhead had been spotted on the intake pipe of the plant and a worker pushed the turtle back into the water, but she kept coming back up to rest.
