Hurricane Hermine, PA/NJ Tropical Storm Watch; 2017 NFL Draft; 1 Dead, 1 Arrested at Tanger Outlets

Tropical Storm Hermine has been upgraded to a Hurricane by the National Weather Service with maximum sustained winds now exceeding 75mph. It will make landfall on Florida's Gulf Coast tonight or tomorrow morning as it continues to head northeast. Tropical Storm Watches have been issued for Delaware, Southeastern Pennsylvania, and Southern New Jersey for Labor Day Weekend. Winds and potentially flooding rains could be an issue. The track of the storm as is makes its way up the coast will be very important. See NOAA Hurricane Local Statement

It was officially announced today at a press conference at City Hall that the NFL will hold the 2017 Draft in Philadelphia next April. The draft will be held April 27th-29th along Benjamin Franklin Parkway with the Philadelphia Art Museum as the backdrop. Peter O'Reilly, Senior Vice President of Events for the National Football League, said, "The next generation of NFL players will walk those [Rocky] steps as they start their journey." The draft has been held in Philly 14 previous times, including the first ever draft in 1936. The last draft held in the city was 1961. Draft Town will accompany the formal draft and like previous years be "full of fun football activities, participatory games, youth football clinics, merchandise from NFL Shop, free autograph sessions from NFL players and more." Draft by the numbers: $86 million in revenue for the city; 200,000 visitors; 40 million TV viewers.

One man is dead and another is in custody after a shooting at Tanger Outlets The Walk in Atlantic City. It happened shortly after noon on Thursday at North Arkansas and Arctic avenues. The victim was taken to Atlantic City Medical Center were he was pronounced dead. The male suspect is also suffering from what appears to be a self-inflicted gun shot wound, according to police. Authorities say that the two men know each other and that there is no danger to the public. The identities of the vicitm and suspect have not been released. The investigation continues.

UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 26-year-old Christopher Romero of Absecon, N.J. He was the manager of the Zumiez clothing store. The alleged shooter, 55-year-old Lewis Maisonet of Somers Point, N.J., fled to another store and shot himself. He is hospitalized in critical condition. Authorities say was "a domestic-related matter" but have not released a possible motive.
