Bruce Beemer Vote, Top Party Schools, Hershey Cadbury Deal Over

The state Senate is set to return nearly a month earlier than scheduled Tuesday to vote on Bruce Beemer's nomination to serve the nearly five months that remain in Kathleen Kane's term as Pennsylvania attorney general. The anticipated Senate vote on confirmation of former First Deputy Attorney General Bruce Beemer to serve as Attorney General will come less than two weeks after Bruce Castor became acting AG. Castor was Kathleen Kane's hand-picked second in command. But Jennifer Kocher, spokeswoman for Republican leaders of the GOP-controlled Senate, says the quick action on the nomination is not so much about getting Castor out, but rather about getting Beemer in.

If partying is on your list of factors for picking a college, you might want to consider two Pennsylvania schools. Princeton Review released their list of the best party schools. Topping the list was the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Two Pennsylvania schools cracked the top five. Lehigh University came in at number four while Bucknell University came in at number five. The University of Delaware also made the list, ranked 12th.

So much for that much-hyped chocolate marriage between Hershey and Cadbury. Hersheyâ€™s stock crashed 11% Monday evening after Cadbury owner Mondelez revealed it's no longer pursuing a deal to acquire the iconic American chocolate maker. In June, Hershey rejected a $107-a-share takeover offer from Mondelez. The offer represented a 10% premium to Hersheyâ€™s closing price at the time. The two companies continued talking, but Mondelez said merger talks are now over.
