Flyers Fan Loses Legs in Bombings, Bomb Parts Found, Philadelphia Running Clubs Show Support |

A Philadelphia Flyers fan lost both his legs in Boston in the bombings on Patriot Day Monday. Twenty seven year old Jeff Bauman (pictured) who remains in critical condition, has deep family roots in the Philadelphia area. Bauman’s father grew up in Oaklyn, Camden County and lived in East Falls for a time. He also has family in Villanova. Despite living in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, Bauman remained a Flyers fan.

More details are emerging about the nature of the bombs that exploded during the Boston Marathon on Monday afternoon. Officials speaking on condition of anonymity have stated that explosives were placed inside 6 liter kitchen pressure cookers and packed with shrapnel such as ball bearings and nails. Massachusetts Gov. Patrick says no unexploded bombs were found at the Boston Marathon. He says the only explosives were the ones that went off Monday. Three people were killed, including an 8-year-old boy, by two explosions just seconds apart near the finish line. Police commissioner Ed Davis says 176 victims came to hospitals around Boston, and 17 of those are in critical condition. Two explosions went off near the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Monday as runners were finishing the race, injuring multiple people.
The large explosions went off within 15 seconds of each other and blocks apart along Boylston Street. There are fatalities, casualties, amputations, and other injuries. Kevin Hart was stopped for driving under the influence at 4:30 a.m. PDT Sunday in his black Mercedes. The California Highway Patrol saw him driving very frantically, over 90 mph, and almost collided with a tanker truck on the 101 Freeway in Los Angeles. Hart was arrested for a misdemeanor DUI after failing a field sobriety test and was held on $5,000 bond.
