Gussie Clark Passes at 81, Columbus Day Parade, Eagles Win 2nd in a Row

Augusta "Gussie" Clark passed away this weekend. She was only the 2nd African-American female elected to serve as a Philadelphia City Councilwoman, a position she held for two decades. Clark was elected to serve as a Democratic Councilwoman at-large in 1980. She served as Chair of the Education Committee and also as Chair of the Public Property and Public Works Committee before retiring in 2000. Augusta Clark was 81 years old.

Time to Raise PA Speed Limit?; Mother Sentenced For Fake Cancer; Philly Charter School Closes

A top Pennsylvania state senator thinks it is time that we increase the maximum speed limit on highways from 65 to 70 miles per hour. Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati said that he plans to introduce legislature that will allow for the higher speeds. He says the higher speed limits would allow traffic to flow easier and the delivery of goods to be more efficient. 34 other states allow at least 70 mph and 16 of those allow 75 mph. Heavy rain off and on with strong winds are pounding Philadelphia and the Jersey Shore today. This nor-easter is causing coastal flood warnings and tricky travel conditions around Philadelphia today. The National Weather Service is saying this slow moving storm may give us intermittent rain all weekend before clearing out on Monday.

The Reverend Al Sharpton promoted his new book at the Free Library of Philadelphia Thursday afternoon, saying it's about life lessons, with anecdotes. The book is called The Rejected Stone: Al Sharpton and the Path to American Leadership. Sharpton talks about a number of things in his book, including his ministry, his music business, and civil rights.

Philadelphia Police have identified a suspect in an assault of a blind man last week that was caught on tape. Police are looking for 29-year-old Mustafa Guyton. The incident occurred on October 2nd at 12:06 pm. The camera shows the suspect standing on the northeast corner of Wayne Avenue and Seymour Street in Southwest Germantown. Morning rush hour was a mess this morning around the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge which got stuck in the up position overnight during an opening at about 1 am. Crews were banging the mighty old bridge with hammers but she wouldn’t budge. Motorists had to detour to the Betsy Ross bridge.

A developing and slow moving nor'easter will impact the area over the next several days with rain and wind. A Coastal Flood Advisory has been issued for coastal counties of New Jersey and Delaware on Thursday. Minor tidal flooding is expected to occur with each high tide cycle and there is a chance for moderate coastal flooding if heavy rain coincides with the high tides. Ephrata Man Convicted of Beating Wife; Video of Blind Man Assault; MontCo School Cancels Halloween

A Lancaster County man was convicted today for beating his wife for not addressing him as "sir" in front of their children. Prosecutors said that 49-year-old Dan Kirby Kopp of Ephrata would beat his wife with a wooden paddle when he thought she wasn't being respectful. He'd take her over his knee and spank her. The wife used her iPhone to record a September 2012 episode showing the 6'5", 230 lb man hitting her with the paddle for not saying "Yes, sir." Kopp was convicted of misdemeanor... Read More

Normandy Cemetary Closed, Halloween Celebration Cancelled, S. Jersey Coastal Flooding

A Philadelphia area couple was turned away from the cemetery at Normandy, closed as a result of the U.S. Government shutdown. Robert and Nancy Foxx from Merion planned on spending a few days of their trip to France at Normandy. They were permitted onto the beaches, the site of the D-Day invasion, but were disappointed when the gates to the cemetery were locked.

Princeton Gun Shots, Indecent Assault Delco Man Behind Bars, Cory Harley Sentenced 15 - 30 Years

According to Princeton University, Public Safety received a report of gunshots at Nassau Hall on campus. The University's Facebook page says no injuries have been reported and Princeton Police responded. The University says Princeton Police set up a close-in perimeter around Nassau Hall.

UPDATE: Princeton Police searched the building and found no evidence of gunshots. They believe the report of gunshots was unfounded. They issued the 'All Clear' at 10:30 pm Tuesday.
