A female firefighter was killed while battling a fire in the basement of a home in Philadelphia's West Oak Lane Section. She was the first female firefighter to die in the line of duty in Philadelphia history. She was an 11-year veteran of the Fire Department. She had been battling a fire on the 1600 block of Middleton Street around 3:00 this morning with Engine 64. A Philadelphia man has been arrested after the body of a woman was found inside the trunk of a car Sunday night in Maple Shade, NJ. Police were notified by the victim's family that she was missing. Using the vehicle's On Star, authorities were able to track her car to a Burlington County hotel. A Good Samaritan was seriously injured early Sunday morning after being hit by a car on I-95 while helping another driver. It happened around 5:00 a.m. in the southbound lanes near Rt 430 in near Route 420 in Tinicum Township, PA. 31-year-old Daniel Callaway, a volunteer fireman, stopped to help a driver who had been in a single car crash. A Lehigh County home has broken the record for the highest concentration of radon ever measured in a Pennsylvania home. The home, which is in the Center Valley area, registered an astounding 3,715 picocuries per liter. The US Environmental Protection Agency recommends any home with more than 4 picocuries per liter of the cancer causing gas be remediated.
