PHL Flight Delays, West Oak Lane Fire Casualty, Moses Walker Murder Trial

Tuesday morning's bad weather is interfering with operations at Philadelphia International Airport. Arriving flights are being delayed an average of 1 hour and 19 minutes. Officials say a firefighter has died battling a blaze in the West Oak Lane section of Philadelphia this morning. The fire on Middleton Street was reported a little after 3am, and responding crews were able to bring the blaze under control within about 45-minutes. About an hour after that, officials confirmed that a firefighter had died, however they did not release any details of how that firefighter was killed. This is the first death in the line of duty for the Philadelphia Fire Department since Captain Michael Goodwin was killed in 2013. The fire commissioner says this is the first female firefighter to die in the line of duty in Philadelphia.

There has been dramatic, tearful testimony in the trial of a 25-year-old man charged with the murder of off-duty Philadelphia police officer Moses Walker in North Philadelphia in 2012. The victim was robbed and murdered as he walked from work after completing his overnight shift at the 22nd district. Minutes and a few blocks later, Walker was shot. Fellow officers responded to 911 calls of a person shot. Defendant Rafael Jones has pleaded not guilty. The defense says he did not commit the robbery or the shooting. A co-defendant pleaded guilty and will testify as part of a cooperation plea deal.
