Gov. Andrew Cuomo said "a nightmare is finally over" Sunday evening, following the capture of David Sweat, the second of two convicted murderers who staged a brazen escape three weeks ago from a maximum-security prison upstate. Sweat was shot and captured near the Canadian border Sunday, two days after his fellow inmate, Richard Matt, was killed in a confrontation with law enforcement officers. In the NBA draft last night the 76ers chose Duke big man Jahlil Okafor with the third overall pick. The Sixers missed out on point guard D’Angelo Russell when the Los Angeles Lakers grabbed him with the #2 pick. The 76ers now have three towers in Nerlens Noel, Joel Embiid and Okafor.

About 137,000 people are still without power following Tuesday night's powerful storms. PECO is reporting 16,000 without power in Delaware County, 13,000 in the dark in Chester County and 900 customers without service in Montgomery County. In New Jersey, PSE&G is reporting 4,600 customers still without service in Burlington County, 3,600 without power in Camden County and 500 out in Gloucester County. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is expected to announce on Tuesday his intentions to run for President in 2016. He will make the formal announcement at Livingston High School in North Jersey where he attended high school. According to data released by Philadelphia's Police Department, Police officers are shooting less often, firing fewer bullets when they discharge their weapons and striking fewer civilians compared to 2012. Shootings by police have plunged since a spike three years ago, when officers killed 16 people and wounded 32. Between Jan. 1 and mid-June of this year, police fatally shot one person and injured seven others.

PECO says it's an all hands on deck effort as they work to restore electricity. 200 local contractors joined their crews to assist with restoration efforts. In addition to that, there are 500 field personal who are coming from utilities from Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia and New York. But PECO officials say power restoration is going to take some time.

National Weather Service officials have determined that it was not a tornado that caused massive damage, but rather 85 mph straight-line winds that hit Gloucester County, New Jersey during severe storms on Tuesday night. Investigators looked for patterns in the damage that would have shown the circular rotation of a tornado. Instead they called it a macroburst of high winds. Last night's 75 mile per hour winds and severe weather toppled trees, shut down roads, cut power and brought mass transit to a standstill. Hundreds of thousands of people were left without power. Delaware and Chester counties in PA got slammed. iRadioPhilly's power grid was down for hours. Cape May, Gloucester and Camden counties in N.J. were the hardest hit. The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for Philadelphia today. The heat advisory will be in effect in until 6:00 p.m. With highs in the mid 90's accompanied by intense humidity, the heat index is expected to feel upwards of 100 degrees. After highs of 91 on Sunday and Monday, Tuesday rounds out the first official heat wave of the year.
