Body Pulled from Schuylkill; No Charges for Laundromat Owner; Black Lives Matter to Williams, Resign

The Philadelphia Police Marine unit pulled a badly decomposed body from the Schuylkill River this morning. A police boat recovered the body of a man around 10 a.m. near the 2500 block of Locust Street right along the Schuylkill River Trail. The medical examiner was called to the scene to help investigators determine race and age. An autopsy will need to be performed to determine cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.

Philadelphia Police are now investigating after a teen was injured in a shooting in West Philadelphia. The shooting took place near 50th and Haverford Avenue just before 4 pm. Police arrived on the scene to find the teenager with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was then rushed to The Children's Hospital Of Philadelphia. Police are still searching for the suspect or suspects responsible.

The owner of a laundromat in North Philly shot a would be robber and also an innocent bystander on Sunday afternoon. It happened just before 4 p.m. Sunday on the 2800 block of North 5th Street. The 40-year-old male suspect held up the laundromat armed with a knife, but the owner pulled out a gun and chased him out of the store. The owner opened fire and hit the suspect twice in the chest. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie once again called on the federal government to have Cuba return a convicted cop killer who fled to the island nation decades ago. Joanne Chesimard was convicted in the murder of Trooper Werner Foerster 40 years ago Saturday, March 26th. He was killed during a firefight following a traffic stop on the New Jersey Turnpike in 1973. Chesimard was sentenced to life in prison, but escaped prison in November 1979. A permitted pro-Trump rally was held on Independence Mall with plans to march down Market Street and then to Eakins Oval as part of a national Make America Great Again March. Former Penn State University president Graham Spanier was found guilty of one felony count of child endangerment. The 68-year-old was acquitted of another count of child endangerment and a count of conspiracy. The jury of five men and seven women deliberated a total of 12 hours on Thursday and Friday before reaching their verdicts. A youth hockey coach has been arrested and faces child sex abuse charges in both New Jersey and Delaware. 55-year-old Walter "Tracy" Ferinden of Lansdale, PA, is charged with nine counts of second degree unlawful sexual contact with minors in New Castle, Delaware. He is accused of abusing two boys in this case. He was arraigned and released on $25,000 bail. He was also accused of molesting a 12-year-old boy in an apartment in Deptford, NJ in 1994. Philadelphia Police are now searching for an armed robber who has been targeting businesses in Chestnut Hill and West Oak Lane. Police have stated that the robber pulled out a knife on an employee at a Metro PCS store on Stenton Avenue this past Tuesday, he was unsuccessful in his robbery and did not get away with any money. A Philadelphia police officer has been arrested in connection to an emaciated dog found dumped in a trash bag in Wissahickon Valley Park last November. The Pennsylvania SPCA says that 33-year-old Michael Long is charged with two counts of animal cruelty, one count for possession of an instrument of a crime and one summary charge of animal cruelty. Police in Israel have arrested a 19-year-old Jewish man in connection with a series of bomb threats targeting Jewish Community Centers and other institutions last month. Israeli authorities worked with the FBI to help identify and track down the teenage suspect. Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld described the suspect as a hacker who used "advanced camouflage technologies" to cover his tracks such as his phone number and IP address.
