The Philadelphia Police Marine unit pulled a badly decomposed body from the Schuylkill River this morning. A police boat recovered the body of a man around 10 a.m. near the 2500 block of Locust Street right along the Schuylkill River Trail. The medical examiner was called to the scene to help investigators determine race and age. An autopsy will need to be performed to determine cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.

Philadelphia police say that the laundromat owner who shot an armed robber and also hit a bystander yesterday in North Philadelphia will not be charged. The suspect will be facing charges. It happened around 4 p.m. Sunday on the 2900 block of N. Fifth Street. The suspect entered the store with a knife and demanded money. The owner handed over the cash, about $2000 according to the owner. He then grabbed his 5-shot revolver and chased the bandit out of the store. Once on the street, the suspect tossed the cash in the air which was then grabbed up by passers-by. The owner opened fire, emptying the gun, and hit the suspect, a 40-year-old man, twice in the back. A 52-year-old woman was also struck twice in the hand. Both were taken to Temple University Hospital. The suspect was in critical condition and the woman was in stable condition. The store owner does have a permit to carry the weapon. The incident was captured on surveillance video. See video below.

You can add Black Lives Matter supporters to the growing list of those calling for Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams' resignation. This morning, a small group of Black Live Matter protesters blocked traffic on the south side of City Hall in front of the District Attorney's Office at 3 South Penn Square. The protesters were led by Asa Khalif, a Black Lives Matter organizer. Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney, Deborah R. Gross, chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association, and others have also called upon Williams to resign. Last week, he was indicted on federal corruption and bribery charges.
