Bucks Co 1st Asst. DA Demoted for 2nd Job; Man Shot Outside Philly Prison; SEPTA Worker Attacked Vid

Bucks County's first assistant district attorney has been demoted after he was caught working for a food delivery company during normal work hours. Gregg Shore made around $129,000 a year as a county prosecutor, but for undisclosed personal reasons he started to work as a DoorDash delivery driver in October 2020. "Due to my personal circumstances, there were times that I worked a second job delivering food during the COVID pandemic. I primarily worked the job at night and on weekends. However, I made the incredibly poor decision to deliver during the workday at times," Shore said. He repaid the time to the county with accrued vacation time. Bucks County DA Matt Weintraub said, "What he has done is indefensible, thoughtless, selfish and so stupid." However, Weintraub wants to give Shore a chance to earn back the trust of the office and people of Bucks County. "I have decided to demote him rather than fire him in light of all of his years of public service," Weintraub said. Shore is now a deputy district attorney. He worked for the county from 1996-2000 and then returned in 2015. Deputy DA Jennifer Schorn, who joined the office in 1999, has been promoted to first assistant.

A man released from a Philadelphia prison on bail was shot and killed on prison grounds less than an hour later while waiting for a ride home. 20-year-old Rodney Hargrove had been at Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility for about a week on six charges including theft and gun charges. Around 1:10 a.m. Thursday, 3/18, he was released after his father posted bail. Prison officials transported him to the SEPTA bus stop across the street where he awaited a ride. About 45 minutes later, Hargrove ran back onto prison grounds as he was chased by a dark-colored vehicle. He was shot and killed nearby the entrance gate. No one at the prison saw the shooting, but they did see the dark vehicle speeding away from the scene. The entrance gate is manually operated by a guard. Prison officials are investigating if there was a guard on duty and why the gate was left open. Police also are trying to determine who would want to harm Hargrove and how they would know he was released from jail.

The SEPTA's transit union Transit Workers Union (TWU) Local 234 released surveillance footage on Thursday, 3/18, showing the brutal attack of a SEPTA worker by a large group of teenagers. The attack happened 11:30 p.m. Monday, 3/15, at SEPTA's 15th Street Station in Center City. The video shows the 55-year-old worker being swarmed by a group of around 10 young people. He gets pushed to the ground and is kicked and punched repeatedly. "There was no words passed," TWU Local 234 President Willie Brown said. "There was no reason. They just attacked him and it's sometimes almost like they get points or they have this game going where they just jump on somebody." Brown is calling for SEPTA's police chief to resign. SEPTA Transit Police Chief Thomas Nestel says he isn't resigning. "This behavior is completely unacceptable. We don't want our employees or any of our riders to suffer from that kind of behavior," said Nestel. He also said that they have been discussing bringing in 60 unarmed security guards.
