The hosts of a popular New Jersey radio show have been suspended for 10 days after calling the state's attorney general 'turban man.' Attorney General Gurbir Grewal is the country's first Sikh attorney general. Dennis Malloy and Judi Franco are longtime hosts of the mid-day show 'Dennis & Judi' on New Jersey 101.5 WKXW-FM. The pair were discussing Grewal's recent directive to prosecutors to suspend marijuana cases in municipal courts statewide. Malloy said he couldn't remember Grewal's name and said, "I’m just going to say the guy with the turban." The two hosts continued to call Grewal "Turban Man" throughout the rest of the segment. Grewel said in a tweet, "It’s time to end small-minded intolerance." He is the son of Indian immigrants and was born in New Jersey. He does have a full beard and wear a turban. Malloy and Franco issued an apology. They will return to air on August 6th.

A Philadelphia woman whose arrest on a Wildwood beach over Memorial Day weekend that was caught on video appeared briefly in court on Thursday, 7/26. 20-year-old Emily Weinman rejected a plea deal and will instead seek entry into a pretrial intervention program. The deal entailed pleading guilty to aggravated assault in exchange for probation to run concurrently with an existing probation in Philadelphia. The incident on the beach in May was captured on both police body cameras and by a beachgoer. The police camera shows officers making contact with Weinman and questioning her about alcoholic beverages. She refuses to give the officers her name or identification and becomes evasive. The beachgoer video shows the very end of the confrontation when officers tackle, punch, and arrest Weinman. She has been charged with aggravated assault for pushing and spitting on an officer. The officers were cleared of any wrongdoing.

Philadelphia Police say that a suspect wanted for three armed sexual assaults in two separate incidents last week in West Philadelphia turned himself in to authorities on Thursday morning, 7/26. Police identified 51-year-old Robert Johnson as a suspect and released his photo (see below) on Wednesday night, 7/25. He surrendered to Southwest Detectives at 7:30 a.m. Police executed a search warrant at his home on the 4100 block of Leidy Street overnight. They discovered a weapon believed to have been used in the attacks. Police are glad that Johnson is off the streets. He is a registered sex offender and classified as a sexualy violent predator. He has been convicted twice previously of sexual crimes and spent over 10 years in prison. He was released from prison last year. Authorities think he may been connected to another assault from June. There may also been others. If you have any information call Philadelphia Police at 215-686-TIPS.
