Wildwood police are investigating after a viral video posted to social media showed an officer punching a woman in the head while wrestling her to the ground and attempting to subdue her. An internal affairs investigation is now open and the officers involved have been placed on administrative duty. It happened just after 4 p.m. on Saturday, 5/26, on the beach near East Schellinger Avenue. 20-year-old Emily Weinman of Philadelphia was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer (2 Counts), Aggravated Assault by Spitting Bodily Fluids at/on a Police Officer, Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, Obstruction and Minor in Possession of Alcohol. (video below)

Weinman was initially stopped by officers on the beach for being underage and having alcohol. She refused to give them her ID or name when asked so they could write a citation. On a Facebook post, she admits to not cooperating, "I asked them don't they have something better to do as cops than to stop people for underage drinking on the beach, saying to that there's so much more serious stuff going on... the cop said, "I was gonna let you go but now I'll write you up" and he asked my name. I did not do anything wrong and anything could've been written down on that paper so I wouldn't give it to him. At that point I was told if I don't give it to him he's going to arrest me." Weinman explains. "I know I should’ve gave him my name," Weinman said. "I was partly wrong in a way but I was scared." Police say that while resisting arrest she spat on an officer and kicked another. The video of the arrest was taken by a beach goer. (see below)

Statement from City of Wildwood Police Department:
This City of Wildwood Police Department has received reports of a video on various social media sources, regarding an incident that occurred on the Wildwood beach yesterday afternoon, with our officers.

An Internal Affairs Investigation was immediately initiated into this matter and the involved officers have been reassigned to administrative duty pending the outcome of a full and thorough investigation.

Chief Regalbuto stated that while he finds this video to be alarming, he does not want to rush to any judgment until having the final results of the investigation.
Anyone that may have been present during this altercation and has supporting video that could assist us with this investigation are strongly encouraged to contact Detective Lieutenant Kenneth Gallagher at 609-522-0222. The Cape May County Prosecutors Office, Professional Standards Unit will also be assisting in this investigation.

Three people were killed and another critically injured in a fiery head on collision in the city's Feltonville neighborhood early Sunday morning, 5/27. It happened around 1:40 a.m. at D Street and Whitaker Avenue. One car was trying to make a left turn when it was hit by the other. It then burst into flames. Two 22-year-old men and a female died at the scene. The driver of other car was taken to Temple University Hospital and is listed in critical condition. "We have no indication about alcohol, just based on the extent of damage it’s safe to say that speed was a factor," said Captain Frank Palumbo. The identities of the victims have not been released. The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Investigators are hoping nearby surveillance captured the incident.

A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run in Norristown on Sunday morning, 5/27. It happened around 4 a.m. at the intersection of at Main and Markley Streets. The man was found dead in the street. Investigators believe he was hit by a silver SUV which continued to drive south on Markley Street and into Upper Merion Township. The vehicle may have damage to the front passenger side. If you have any information contact the Norristown Police Department at 610-270-0977.
