A Philadelphia judge has ruled that the statue of Christopher Columbus can stay at Marconi Plaza on Broad Street in South Philadelphia after the city decided to remove it last year. Common Pleas Court Judge Paula Patrick wrote in her decision, "It is baffling to this Court as to how the City of Philadelphia wants to remove the Statue without any legal basis. America's Got Talent was back with quarterfinals tonight, 8/17. Two Philadelphia-area favorites performed in front on the judge's. T.3 aka Tik Tok Tenors performed a rendition of "good 4 u" by Olivia Rodrigo. The group is comprised of Liam Fennecken of Plumstead, an Archbishop Wood High School graduate, Jim Hogan of Abington, a Bishop McDevitt High School graduate, and Brendan Jacob Smith of Brooklyn. One teen was killed and another injured when gunfire erupted in a shopping center parking lot in Olney on Monday evening, 8/16. It happened around 7 p.m. outside the ShopRite in the One & Olney Shopping Center on the 100 block of East Olney Avenue. West Chester Borough Police are searching for two suspects wanted for the burglary of a jewelry store on Friday night, 8/13. It happened at 8:49 p.m. at Big Jewelers at 15 West Gay Street. A statue of St. Rita has been reported stolen from a locked case outside the National Shrine of St. Rita of Cascia in South Philadelphia. The shrine posted on its Facebook page on Friday afternoon, 8/13, about its disappearance saying it appears that whomever took the statue was able to open the lock easily.
