Philadelphia's own Bleeding Rainbow has gone through quite a transformation over the past year, changing names from a certain 80's children's television show to adding two members to the original duo. They've also singed to a new label Kanine Records and will put out their first release under them called Yeah Right in January '13. You can listen to the new single "Drift Away" below.
The garage-pop, punk shoe gaze band will embark on a month-long tour that criss-crosses... Read More |

On July 29,2012, Sigur Ros broke their 4 year hiatus with a debut performance at the new Skyline Stage at the Mann Center. They began their tour in Philadelphia with back to back sold out shows before heading around the US, Canada, and on to Europe. Their long awaited tour could not have begun more successfully. The all new Skyline Stage was the perfect venue for them as the airy hilltop lifted the otherworldly music and helped it surround the entire venue. There was not an area of the venue... Read More |

You may not have heard of them yet, but Maps and Atlases is quickly gaining popularity. This indie rock band from Chicago is coming to Philadelphia this week and I would suggest checking them out!
The band has a history with Philadelphia. Front man Dave Davison was originally from the city. Davison also created a solo outlet called Cast Spells and collaborated on an EP with Philadelphia's Good Old War.

Punk?! Maybe in Bizarro World. Check out this 90's Commercial. |

All the hairspray the genius marketing execs were using who came up with this compilation must have seeped well into their brains during the 80's, because this 90's infomercial for a 2 CD (or 2 cassette) collection of "tunes" called Punk misses the mark by about 1000 miles. Or maybe it's spot on because Huey Lewis, Crowd House, Men at Work, Human League, Culture Club really are synonymous with slam dance, working class, antiestablishment, against the mainstream, etc. Nope, they are all soft... Philly hip hop band, The Roots released their 13th album this month titled Undun, and it's their first concept album.
