Philadelphia radio station WYSP 94.1 FM announced that the station's rock format will be signing off and be replaced by the staff and content currently on sister sports talk station WIP 610 AM.
Howard Stern, the popular Sirius/XM satellite personality and former WYSP morning show host told his listeners that 'YSP couldn't survive after his radio show moved away from free radio to satellite radio.

August 18, 2011, the announcement was made at 9:41 a.m. Angelo Cataldi made it official. 94.1 FM WYSP will be replaced by SportsRadio 94 WIP. The sports talk station will take over the FM signal of 94.1 WYSP on September 6. WIP will now have a stronger signal and be able to reach more listeners. It will still continue to simulcast on 610 AM.

Students get back to school in the next couple weeks and New Jersey schools are ramping up for the state's new anti-bullying law.
School administrators have attended regional training sessions to prepare for implementing the measure, which has been called the toughest of its kind in the nation.
The Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights permits the expulsion of offenders from school and adds strict requirements to report and investigate incidents without delay.

Members of the Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus yesterday officially joined the campaign to protect Superintendent Arlene Ackerman's job and vowed to get to the bottom of rumors that political forces are moving to have her booted.

| The Philadelphia School District's accountability office said that they had "many concerns" about the data analysis used by the state to flag 28 district schools for possible 2009 PSSA cheating. The district will cooperate with the state and will help gather forensic analyses of the 2010 and 2011 PSSA's. | Sometime after Sunday services, thieves entered St. Simon the Cyrenian Church at 22nd and Reed Streets in the city's Point Breeze section and stole several sacred items, including gold crosses, chalices, candle holders, bells and collection plates. Beginning tonight at 9 pm the extended earlier curfew for teens 18 and under took effect in Center City and University City. Additional police patrol on foot, bike, and mount will be on patrol to enforce and pick up violators.
