There is now a $40,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction for those responsible in the shooting death of a pregnant mother and the baby she was carrying in Frankford on Sunday. 25-year-old Megan Doto was hit by a stray bullet in the face while sitting outside on the 1500 block of Adams Avenue before noon on Sunday. In a badly needed happy event for Atlantic City, the Miss America pageant concluded last night with Miss New York getting the crown. That's a three-peat for New York getting the Miss America title. Kira Kazantsev, 23, is the daughter of Russian immigrants and a student at Hofstra University. Her platform is to raise awareness for domestic violence. Kira Kazantsev, Miss America receives a $50,000 scholarship.

Longtime editorial cartoonist with the Philadelphia Inquirer and Pulitzer Prize-winner Tony Auth has died after a two-year battle with brain cancer. Tony began his career at the Inquirer in 1971. After leaving the Inquirer in 2012, Auth went on to become the artist-in-residence at Newsworks/WHYY. A large solar storm is predicted to hit the Earth on Friday potentially causing disruption to satellites, radio, and other transmissions but also causing some spectacular views of the Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis. The direction and strength of solar flare could mean the lights will be visible in some far south latitudes, including Pennsylvania and New Jersey. A Philadelphia jury found 21-year-old Christina Regusters guilty of all six charges today. She was convicted of kidnapping a 5-year-old girl from her kindergarden class while posing as her mother and sexually assaulting her over many hours at her home nearby. Regusters eventually let the girl go in the middle of that January 2013 night and she was found the next morning in an Upper Darby playground wearing only a t-shirt by a passerby. The annual Susan G. Komen 3 day walk for cancer got underway today. Participants in pink shirts and hats enjoyed opening ceremonies at the parking lot of Bloomingdale’s at the Willow Grove Park Mall and then set off on foot on their 60 mile journey. Walkers will cover 20 miles a day and were required to raise at least $2,300 to take part in the fundraiser.

Actor Charlie Sheen took to Twitter today to pledge $1,000 to the waiter at PYT in Northern Liberties who was apparently stiffed on a tip on Monday by Eagle's RB LeSean McCoy. The burger joint in the Piazza is known for its unusual burger creations.
