Malik Anderson was served a life sentence by a Philadelphia jury on Wednesday. He was charged with the first-degree murder of his friend in August of 2013. The tragedy occurred because of an unequal share of money when the two sold a stolen PlayStation system. Anderson will serve life in prison without parole.

Vice President Joe Biden was in Philadelphia today to check on the ongoing Delaware River dredging project. Biden toured on of the dredge boat and spoke about the importance of the project to the local economy. Deepening the river channel to 45 feet will allow more ships and therefore commerce to come up the river and into the Port of Philadelphia. A deadly crash on the Schuylkill Expressway this morning caused major delays eastbound approaching Montgomery Drive. Just after 5:15 am a vehicle crashed and overturned killing at least one motorist. Traffic jams this morning backed up for miles in both directions from the scene of the accident on Interstate 76.

One lane of the Eastbound Schuylkill Expressway is now getting by after a fatal, multi-vehicle accident near the Montgomery off-ramp Thursday morning. Authorities say at least one person is dead. There’s no word yet on other injuries. The Martin Luther King Drive is taking most of the Schuylkill bailout and the Kelly Drive is also quickly backing up.

A ten year old boy, charged with the crime of fatally beating 90-year-old woman, is to remain in adult prison today after his lawyer withdrew his request for bail. The lawyer said that the boy's family is not ready to take him into custody yet. A popular urban dirt biker was shot and killed this afternoon in Southwest Philadelphia. Police were called to the 2100 block of South 60th Street near Kingsessing for a report of a gun. They found 23-year-old Kyrell Tyler aka "Dirt Bike Rell" inside a black Chevrolet Monte Carlo shot several times in the head, neck, and torso. A second health care worker in Dallas has tested positive for the Ebola virus. The worker had provided care for Thomas Eric Duncan who died from the disease on October 8th. State lawmakers passed a measure that could clear the way for sports betting in New Jersey. The bill is the latest in a years-long effort to authorize sports wagering, a push that still faces legal challenges. The state Senate passed the measure on Tuesday. Democratic State Sen. A 10-year-old boy has been charged in the beating death of a 90-year-old woman on Saturday in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The boy was visiting his grandparent's home in Wayne County.
