A man with a gun fired a shot through the front door of Toys R Us in Port Richmond on Aramingo Avenue this morning. The incident happened about 6:30 this morning after employees in the store refused to let the man in. Police believe it was an attempted robbery. The suspect then fired a gunshot into the store’s glass front door and fled. No one inside the store was hurt. Police are reviewing surveillance video to identify the suspect.

The family of Shane Montgomery says that the body found today in the Schuylkill River is that of the missing West Chester University student. The body was discovered by Garden State River and Rescue around noon in the waters behind the Manayunk Brew Pub at Main Street and Shurs Lane. Police in Camden, NJ, are investigating a shooting yesterday outside Cooper Hospital where a man shot and wounded his girlfriend before turning the gun on and killing himself. Philadelphia Police have released surveillance video in connection with a hit-and-run accident in Holmesburg last week that killed a women. On December 23rd, 33-year-old Theresa Pozzi was attempting to cross the street on the 8100 block of State Road when she was struck by an older model maybe Ford pickup truck. Authorities in Bensalem have announced charges against an 18-year-old driver in connection with the death of a 16-year-old high school student who was struck while getting on her school bus last month. The 115th annual Mummers Parade kept the New Year's Day tradition alive in Philadelphia. In an event that is unique to Philadelphia, string bands, comics and other costumed, feathered performers danced all day to ring in the new year. Some traditionalists were unhappy with the change in the parade route. This year, the Mummers parade started at City Hall and moved south instead of ending at City Hall after moving north.
