Pope Francis is coming to Philadelphia September 26th and 27th along with about 2 million visitors. Mayor Michael Nutter has some advice for anyone trying to get around Philly while the Pope is here for the World Meeting of Families. Be prepared to walk a couple of miles or more. The city and suburban transit systems will do their best but will be challenged to keep up.

Culinary literacy took center stage at the Free Library of Philadelphia Tuesday night. The class gave people healthy and sustainable summertime cooking tips. Chef William Ambrose with the Cancer Treatment Centers of America led the cooking demonstration, which he says showcased easy to do recipes. This morning, the U.S. Navy received 'security info' that led to the evacuation and dismissal of all non-essential personnel at both their Northeast and South Philadelphia locations. The threat turned out to be 'unfounded.' It happened around 11 a.m. Both the Naval Support Activity Center in Northeast Philadelphia at 700 Robbins Street in the Lawndale section and the Naval Shipyard in South Philadelphia were evacuated. Belmar has re-opened after too many people overcrowded the shore town prompting the mayor to close access roads to outsiders. Mayor Matt Doherty ordered closing access from Route 35 for safety reasons as beachgoers and visitors to a seafood festival created the over-crowding. Belmar was officially closed to outsiders for about four hours and re-opened at about 7 pm yesterday.

Two people were found dead after a standoff and barricade situation in Philadelphia's Harrowgate neighborhood. It began around 2 p.m. when two officers were responding to a report of gunfire on the 3500 block of Emerald Street.
