Navy Yard Threat 'Not Credible' All Clear; 10 Cabs Stolen in West Philly; Joe Paterno Elected PA HOF

This morning, the U.S. Navy received 'security info' that led to the evacuation and dismissal of all non-essential personnel at both their Northeast and South Philadelphia locations. The threat turned out to be 'unfounded.' It happened around 11 a.m. Both the Naval Support Activity Center in Northeast Philadelphia at 700 Robbins Street in the Lawndale section and the Naval Shipyard in South Philadelphia were evacuated. The Philadelphia Ordinance Disposal responded to the Northeast location. The Navy Yard also has many private businesses, but they were not evacuated. After about an hour the all clear was given and the Navy Yard remained open. No additional information about the threat was given other than it was 'not credible.'

Southwest Detectives are looking for a man responsible for a rash of taxi cab thefts in West and Southwest Philadelphia. 10 cabs have been stolen over the past 9 days. Police believe he is using those cabs to commit crimes, including a shooting and a robbery. The cabs are from different companies but are all 2007 to 2009 Ford Crown Victoria models, mostly purchased from police auctions. They believe the man is familiar with the cabs and may have a master key or shaved key. A video shows him walking up, getting in and driving right off. He then disables the GPS. Five of the 10 vehicles have been recovered. Make sure you check the ID's of any cab you get into displayed on the rear facing card. Anyone with information should contact police.

The former Penn State head football coach Joe Paterno was elected into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame posthumously on Tuesday. Paterno was head coach for 45 years, won a record 409 games, and brought home two National Championships to Happy Valley. The end of his career was marred by the investigation into the university's and his handling of the Sandusky scandal. Initially vacating 112 wins, the NCAA returned them to Paterno's record to place him back on top the all-time list. Also elected this year: Former Penn State Quarterback Chuck Fusina and Kicker Matt Bahr, Philadelphia Flyers goalie Bernie Parent, a hockey hall of famer; basketball coach P.J. Carlesimo; swimmer Kristy Kowal; football players Neal Olkewicz, Bill Koman and Eric Crabtree; golfer Chip Lutz and wrestler Gray Simons.

Tonight,
Partly Cloudy, temperatures in the mid/low 80s this evening, into the 70's overnight in Center City.
