According to Yahoo Sports reports, the 76ers are picking up star shooting guard Nik Stauskus as part of a salary dump by the Sacramento Kings. Sixers also get forwards, Jason Thompson, Carl Landy, and a future top-10 protected first round pick. Stauskas was the eighth pick in the 2014 NBA Draft and had a good rookie season, hitting 50 of his last 118 shots from 3 point range. Reports say the Sixers only gave up a couple of second round European player picks.

Veteran substitute teachers are frustrated over the pay being offered by a company now managing subs for Philadelphia schools. John Renfro calls the $90-a-day being offered to Philadelphia substitutes next year "a joke." He says last school year, he made more than twice that under the PFT contract. District spokesman Fernando Gallard says Source4Teachers is paying market rates in suburban districts. The teachers union, though, has filed an unfair labor practice complaint.

The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado near Honey Brook, Chester County on Tuesday. The EF-1 tornado hit at 2:11 pm with estimated maximum winds of 95mph. It had a maximum width of 100 yards and travelled 1.5 miles. They assessed damage along Talbotville Road up to Morgantown Road. Several homes were damaged with roofs ripped off. SEPTA is changing its busiest bus route. The Route 23 bus will become two distinct routes known as the 23 bus and the 45 bus because the 23 had a tough time staying on schedule. The new northern route will be the 23 and run between Chestnut Hill and Center City. The new 45 will replace the southern part of the route will use 11th Street to Noble between Callowhill and Spring Garden. The change will help reduce overcrowding.

Pennsylvania will start the new budget year without a spending plan. Governor Tom Wolf wasted no time announcing Tuesday night he will veto the entire budget. The legislature also sent Wolf two other major pieces of legislation, bills that would privatize liquor sales and would overhaul pensions for school and state employees. The governor has previously indicated opposition to both but said he’ll withhold his veto for now pending a review of those bills.

Philadelphia Police have located the vehicle belonging to the elderly woman brutally murdered in her East Mount Airy home on Monday. The silver 2007 four door Toyota Corolla was found on Tuesday morning on the 3100 block of North Stillman Street in North Philadelphia. 85-year-old Regina Brunner was discovered inside her home on the 300 block of East Roumfort Road on Monday. A dump truck overturned this morning jamming traffic on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Plymouth Township. The dump collided with a pickup truck on the ramp from the Westbound Turnpike entrance onto 476 North. The driver was trapped for some time as firefighters worked to free him. Traffic was log-jammed for hours.

The Philadelphia Phillies have announced the hire of veteran baseball front office executive Andy MacPhail. 62-year-old MacPhail will take over as team president in October after the season from 77-year-old Pat Gillick. In the meantime, he will act as a special assistant to Gillick for the remainder of the season. MacPhail won two World Series as general manager of the Minnesota Twins in 1987 and 1991.
