Bronx Couple Convicted of Sesame Place Employee Assault; NWS Mount Holly Confirms 2 NJ Tornadoes

A New York couple was found guilty on Friday, 7/9, of assaulting a teenage employee of Sesame Place last summer. 40-year-old Troy McCoy was found guilty of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, simple assault, harassment, and disorderly conduct. 32-year-old Shakerra Bonds was found guilty of simple assault and disorderly conduct. They are from the Bronx. It happened on August 9, 2020 at the amusement park in Langhorne, Bucks County. The 17-year-old park employee reminded the couple that they had to wear a mask or face covering while in the child-themed amusement park. Later in the day, while the employee was working at another ride, the same couple approached and attacked the boy. They sucker-punched him in the face, breaking his jaw and damaging a tooth. He was taken to St. Mary Medical Center where he remained for a week. The couple fled the park, but police were able to track them using their park registration and their car's license plate. McCoy's bail was revoked. Bonds is being held on 10% of $250,000 bail.

The National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mount Holly has confirmed two tornadoes early Friday morning, 7/9, in New Jersey due to Tropical Storm Elsa. At 2:40 a.m., an EF-1 tornado with maximum winds of 100 mph touched down in Woodbine. It caused damage at the Ocean World Condominium Complex. At 3:33 a.m., an EF-0 tornado with maximum winds of 80 mph hit Little Egg Harbor Township. It uprooted trees and snapped limbs along its path. Investigators also checked on damage in Somers Point. They ruled that it was not cause by a tornado. The NWS survey teams says tropical storm force winds up to 100 mph snapped seven wooden telephone poles along the Longport Boulevard Causeway.
