| Couple to Trial in Sesame Place Attack; Philly Winter Outdoor Dining Guidance; Burlington Woman Dead |

A New York couple has been ordered to stand for trial in the attack of a teenage employee at Sesame Place this past summer. 39-year-old Troy McCoy and 31-year-old Shakerra Bonds are accused of assaulted the 17-year-old at the Langhorne, Bucks County amusement park on August 9th. The teen had asked the couple to wear a mask while in the park according to guidelines. Hours later, the couple saw the same teen working elsewhere in the park. This time, McCoy sucker punched him in the face, breaking the employee's jaw and damaging his teeth. Bonds joined in the attack. The couple then left the park. Detectives tracked them down through park records and their car's registration to their home in the Bronx. McCoy has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Criminal Conspiracy, Disorderly Conduct 2 counts and Harassment. Bonds has been charged with Simple Assault 2 counts, Criminal Conspiracy, Disorderly Conduct 2 counts and Harassment. The teen was taken to St. Mary Medical Center and spent a week in the hospital after having surgery.
The City of Philadelphia announced new guidelines for restaurants to continue outdoor dining into the colder fall and winter months on Thursday, 10/15. Outdoor dining has enabled many eateries to reopen and expand dining space while indoor dining has been restricted or closed entirely over the summer. As autumn temperatures continue to drop and winter approaches, many restaurants want to get creative to maintain comfortable outdoor seating for guests to enjoy. The guidance released today deals with two main areas: shelter and heating. For shelter, make sure you get the correct permits: right-of-way permit, building permit, tent permit, etc. Also, if your structure is enclosed by three or more walls and a roof, then you are no longer considered outside and are subject to indoor dining restrictions for that space. For heating, safety is key. Electrical, propane, or natural gas heaters manufactured for outdoor use are ok if placed far enough away from combustible materials. If you need to install an outlet, you need to get an electrical permit. If you are heating a tent, you need a tent permit and inspection. Fire pits must be on private property and 15 feet from any structure. More details and full guidelines at the link below.

Authorities in Burlington County, New Jersey are investigating after a woman was found beaten and stabbed to death inside her home on Thursday afternoon, 10/15. 61-year-old Carla Nesmith was found by another resident of her home around 3:45 p.m. on the 400 block of Earl Street in Burlington, NJ. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say she had been bludgeoned and stabbed. Neighbors say that she didn't bother anybody and that she was a 'really good neighbor.' The case is being handled by the City of Burlington Police Department and the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office.
UPDATE: A man suspect in the murder of Carla Nesmith killed himself on Thursday night, 10/15. Kenneth Mackintosh died by suicide as investigators approached him at a motel in Lumberton. Mackintosh was known to do handyman work for Nesmith. |
