Murder Mother/Grandmother Charges; Amish Linda Stoltzfoos Autopsy Results; Arrest Lansdale Shooting

The man who triggered an Amber Alert last week when he disappeared with his 3-year-old son is now charged in the murders of the boy's mother and grandmother. 28-year-old Byron McDonald has been charged with murder and related charges in the deaths of 50-year-old Tamara Aikens and 25-year-old Morgan Braxton. He was previously charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver, Conspiracy, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. McDonald was arrested in a hotel near the airport on Monday, 4/12, after an Amber Alert was issued. A hotel employee recognized the description of the car in the alert and called police. The boy was found safe and McDonald was taken into custody. The grandmother was killed around 1:30 p.m. Friday, 4/9, on the 2500 block of North Bancroft Street. The mother was found shot to death shortly after 9 a.m. Monday, 4/12, in a home on the on the 4800 block of North 8th Street.

The Lancaster County coroner has positively identified the human remains found as the teenage Amish woman Linda Stoltzfoos who went missing last June. Dr. Stephen Diamantoni performed the autopsy on Friday, 4/23. He used dental records to make the positive match. Stoltzfoos was strangled and stabbed in the neck. The cause of death was asphyxia from strangulation, along with suffocation. The stab wound was a contributing factor in her death. She was found buried near railroad tracks behind a business where her accused killer had worked. This was in the town of Gap, along Route 41. Authorities believe he had initially buried her in a different location in Ronks, near where some articles of clothing were previously discovered, and then moved it to this grave.

Montgomery County officials announced the arrest of a man wanted in the death of woman found shot inside her car in Lansdale last November. 52-year-old Ricky Vance of Philadelphia is charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and other charges in the shooting death of 30-year-old Ebony Pack. It happened around 10 p.m. on November 28 near the intersection of Hancock Street and Church Road. Police found Pack shot several times inside a Nissan sedan that had bullet holes in the door. She was taken to Abington-Lansdale Hospital where she was later pronounced dead. Surveillance footage shows Vance following Pack in a dark-colored Cadillac with counterfeit Delaware tags. Witnesses say he drove off quickly after the shooting. Investigators found gun shot residue on the car's passenger side indicating shots were fired from the vehicle.

"This arrest is the result of excellent detective work, but we are not finished yet. We don't believe this defendant acted alone, and the investigation is ongoing," said Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele. "The $10,000 reward is still available for anyone who comes forward to detectives with information that leads to the arrest and conviction of individuals involved in Ebony Pack's death."
