A Philadelphia man from Ireland has been charged with multiple felonies for a head-on crash that seriously injured several people including 4 teenage girls in Bucks County on Saturday night, 3/27. 24-year-old Shane Brolly is charged with five counts of aggravated assault and aggravated assault by vehicle, all felonies, and eight misdemeanor counts of recklessly endangering another person. It happened around 10:15 p.m. on the 300 block of Bridgeton Pike in Northampton Township. Brolly was driving a truck and tried to pass a Nissan Murano on the left side of the road. He ended up crashing head on with a Mazda CX5 carrying four 17-year-old girls and then was hit by the Murano he tried to pass. The four girls have serious injures and were taken to the hospital. The occupants of the Murano were treated and released. Brolly and his passenger also had serious injuries and were taken to the hospital.
Brolly admitted to drinking and open containers were found in his vehicle. Blood tests are pending. Bucks County District Attorney Matt Weintraub says that Brolly is from Ireland and is here on an expired work visa. "He has a UK driver's license so he is not properly licensed in the state of Pennsylvania. He shouldn't have been driving at all," said Weintraub. He was arraigned in the hospital. A judge set bail at $10 million as he is considered a flight risk.
Authorities say that two people will be charged with the murder of a Northeast Philadelphia man who dismembered body was discovered in the back of a U-Haul truck last month. 47-year-old Taray Herring of Philadelphia is already behind bars on charges of abuse of corpse, criminal trespass, theft, and evidence-tampering in the case. His accomplice, 43-year-old Jeanette Pace of New Jersey, is also in police custody on burglary charges. On February 11, neighbors of 70-year-old Peter Gerold in Somerton called police about a suspicious moving truck at his home on Sanibel Street. They worried he may be getting robbed as he traveled often. Police pulled over the truck and found Gerold's dismembered body in the back. More body parts were found in a dumpster behind a Wawa a few blocks away. Police are expected to release more details soon.
