Temple Student Critical in Hit-and-Run; Triple Shooting NW Philly; Guilty Pleas in Two 2014 Murders

A female Temple University student was struck and injured in a hit-and-run accident while riding her bicycle near campus in North Philadelphia Thursday evening. It happened after 7:00 pm near Park Avenue and Diamond Street. The 22-year-old undergraduate student, a senior from Mullica Hill, NJ, was riding her mountain bike when she was hit by a 2007-2009 gray or silver Mitsubishi Galant (see photos below). The vehicle initially stopped, but witnesses say a passenger encouraged the driver to flee. There were three people inside the car. The vehicle was last seen heading north on Broad Street after turning from Diamond. It has front end damage and possible damage to the passenger-side windshield. The woman suffered a compound fracture to her leg, head injuries, a dislocated arm, and was unconscious when found. Police say she wasn't wearing a helmet when she was thrown from the bike and landed on the street. The woman was taken to Temple University Hospital where she is listed in extremely critical condition. Her identity has not officially been released. The incident was caught on Temple surveillance cameras. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Temple Police at 215-204-1234.

Philadelphia Police are investigating a triple shooting in Northwest Philadelphia. It happened around 7:00 p.m. Wednesday on the 1800 block of East Johnson Street near Rugby Street in West Oak Lane. Police believe there were two shooters. They recovered shell casings from two different semi-automatic weapons at the scene. An 18 and 19-year-old were shot once and a 20-year-old was shot twice. They suffered wounds to the arms and legs. The victims were taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center and placed in stable condition. Police are still investigating the incident.

A Montgomery County man has plead guilty to murdering his father and getting his son to help him dispose of the body in Northeast Pennsylvania last summer. 60-year-old David St. Onge Sr. plead guilty to third degree murder, abuse of a corpse and fraud. He admitted in court today to striking his father, 88-year-old Jack St. Onge, on the head with a flashlight when he was asked to leave the home they shared in Plymouth Meeting. He then enlisted his son, 21-year-old David St. Onge Jr., to dispose of the body. They purchased duct tape and tarps, wrapped the body up, and dumped it in a secluded location off the highway in Susquehanna County. St. Onge Sr. also racked up $15,000 on his father's credit cards after the killing. St. Onge Jr. plead guilty last year to his role in the crime and was sentenced to a maximum of 23 months in jail. As part of the plea, St. Onge Sr. will serve serve 15 to 35 years in state prison. The trial was supposed to start next week. SEE ALSO: Son/Grandson Kill Grandfather

A Northeast Philadelphia man plans to plead guilty in the murder of his wife. 48-year-old Christopher Murray is accused of killing his wife, 46-year-old wife Connie McClain-Murray, last August. Connie had gone out for a walk by Pennypack Park near their home. Her body had been found the next morning near the Crispin Rec Center at Holme and Convent avenues in the Holme Circle section strangled to death. The investigation ruled out a random attack and revealed the couple had had an argument after Connie discovered text messages between Christopher and another woman. Christopher confessed to detectives at the time. He will formally enter a guilty plea to third degree murder on May 26. The charge carries a sentence of 20-40 years. Assistant District Attorney Joanne Pescatore says that if the case went to trial they would have pursued a first degree murder charge which carries life imprisonment.
