New Jersey announced additional coronavirus COVID-19 restrictions on Monday, November 30, aimed at tightening the limits on gatherings. First, the limit on outdoor gathering size will only be 25 persons per event starting December 7. There are exceptions for religious or political activities, funerals, memorial services, and weddings. Outdoor dining is not effected by this order. Second, indoor youth and adult sports will be paused from December 5 to January 2. Collegiate and professional sports are exempt. Only ice hockey was to start before January 2nd in the NJSIAA. Practice was scheduled to begin on December 14. All other winter sports were pushed until after the new year.

A customer walked in on a robbery at a late-night, takeout restaurant in Northeast Philadelphia on Sunday night, 11/29, and shot and killed the robber. It happened around 10:30 p.m. at the WingStop on the 2100 block of Cottman Avenue. The 53-year-old robber walked in, went around the counter, and demanded all the money from the employees. Another customer walked into the restaurant right in the middle of the hold up. The robber pointed his weapon at the 27-year-old customer and demanded his cell phone. The customer drew his weapon, fired once, and struck the robber in the neck. When police arrived they found the robber on the ground behind the counter bleeding. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The customer does have a permit to carry. Police do have his weapon for evidence. Charges against the customer are not expected.

A former Lehigh University student has admitted to slowly poisoning his longtime roommate with a heavy metal. 24-year-old Yukai Yang pled guilty to the attempted murder of Juwan Royal. The Northampton County District Attorney's Office will drop all other charges as part of the plea deal. In April 2018, Royal was diagnosed with thallium poisoning causing weight loss, headaches, and nausea. Yang is accused of putting the heavy metal in Royal's food and drink. Yang was already under investigation and charged with ethnic intimidation for writing racist graffiti in their dorm room. At the time, he admitted to purchasing the thallium in March 2018 and said he planned to use it on himself if he received bad grades. However, the chemistry student mixed it in foods shared by both roommates. The two had lived together for years and Royal thought they got along well. Upon his arrest in 2018 Yang's student visa was revoked. Yang tried to get deported and abscond back to China once posting bail, but was stopped. Sentencing is set for January 21. He could receive 6-20 years.
