94.1 WYSP is just one of a growing number of music FM stations that have followed AM's path to spoken word. In August, newly formed Merlin Media flipped 2 FM Alternative Rock stations 101.9 WRXP in New York and 101.1 WKQX in Chicago to All News. CBS has already changed 8 FM music stations to Sports Talk over the past 4 years, 610 WIP going to 94.1 will be #9. Arlene Ackerman may have put her payday at risk by opening her mouth on the radio and criticizing Philadelphia school officials. Her $905,000 separation agreement stipulated she would not make malicious public comments or disseminate any private information about the School Reform Commission. Yet, three days after she was out, Ackerman lambasted CFO Michael Masch on WURD-AM. The Philadelphia Eagles cheerleaders are going where no NFL team has gone yet. The annual cheerleader calendar will have a mobile app coming soon.
Because of the NFL lockout, there was no springtime calendar shoot. Next week, the squad will be bikini modeling for this year’s photos.

Due to Hurricane Irene, parts of New Jersey were declared a federal disaster area this week. Federal funding is available to people in Bergen, Essex, Morris, Passaic, and Somerset Counties.
More than 150,000 homes and businesses in the state remained without electricity Wednesday afternoon, with utilities predicting restoration by the weekend or early next week.

Philadelphia's Reading Viaduct Elevated to Public Park Status |

The old Reading Viaduct, becoming a city park? Talks have been going on for eight years to get city officials on board with the idea. Now, the city is in talks with Reading International Co. to take control of the larger section of the viaduct to transform it into an elevated public park.
Meanwhile, the Center City District is working with SEPTA on a legal agreement to create a park on the shorter section of the viaduct owned by the transit agency.

The 2011 Inc. magazine 500 list of the fastest-growing privately held companies included 18 firms from the Philadelphia area making the region fifth among metropolitan areas with the most Inc. 500 firms.
Only six local companies made the grade last year and just nine in 2009.

The MTV Video Music Awards may seem like a contradiction or at least ingenuine for a channel that doesn't play videos anymore and furthermore doesn't have VJs that can serve as the face of the station at the awards. Amy Winehouse Autopsy Inconclusive |

The singer's autopsy, which was conducted today, came back with inconclusive results from the medical examiner's office in London. Toxicology results will not be available for 2-4 weeks. Officials read a short statement with the details and stated the matter will be officially revisited in October, however it will probably be opened sooner as results are available.
