The School District of Philadelphia owns over 1,000 instruments that are broken and unplayable. Unfortunately they do not have the funds to fix any of the instruments that are still not beyond repair. Tonight's forecast is for clear skies and cool temperatures making great weather to catch the meteors streaking across the sky. The Philadelphia Music Alliance inducted new members to the Philadelphia Walk of Fame on Wednesday. This year's inductees include Jill Scott, Sister Sledge, McFadden & Whitehead, Labelle (Patti LaBelle, Sarah Dash, Nona Hendryx), Soul Survivors, Joe Nicolo & Chris Schwartz (Ruffhouse Records) and Sister Rosetta Tharpe. Bob Pantano received the 2017 Broadcaster Award and Anne Ewers was honored with the Platinum Award.

Rock Legend Tom Petty passed away on 10/02/17 at the age of 66. According to his manager, Petty suffered a cardiac arrest at home in Malibu and was taken to the UCLA Medical Center. He could not be revived and passed away surrounded by family, bandmates, and friends on Monday night.

Out of Town Films gathered together a group of Philadelphia indie musicians last week in the gymnasium at the Bok Building in South Philly to create a one-off supergroup. It was comprised of the members of Queen of Jeans and the dove and the wolf along with Sadie Dupuis (of Sad13 and Speedy Ortiz) and Shamir Bailey. They dubbed themselves The Dove Jeans & Sad Shamir.
