The pills are designed to protect the thyroid gland against harmful radioactive iodine that may be released during an accident. Pennsylvania Auditor General Jack Wagner is calling on Governor Corbett to launch a statewide audit focusing on the widespread waste and evidence of fraud in the Pennsylvania Welfare Department's administration of the program that distributes heating assistance to low-income families. Philadelphia bicyclists beware.....traffic citations may be coming your way.
Philadelphia Traffic Court president Judge Thomasine Tynes suggests, making city bicyclists register their bikes, cite them for moving violations such as riding on the sidewalk or blowing through stop signs, and then have those tickets dealt with by Traffic Court. The Navy SEALS, an elite fighting force for the US military, lost 30 soldiers in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan last week. The Philadelphia family and friends of Michael Joseph Strange, one of the SEALS lost, are remembering him as a true hero. Pennsylvania spreading privatization? Gov. Corbett suggested this week that Pennsylvania's 117 state parks might be ripe for privatizing.
When the governor was asked what besides the Liquor Control Board, might benefit from private-sector control. He replied: "Prison health care and running state parks."
