Weekend Things to Do, Priest Abuse Jurors Begin Deliberations, Zimmerman Bond Revoked

This weekend is full of things to do around Philly if you aren't heading to the shore. Just a few to keep in mind. The TD Bank Championship Bike Race will be winding through Manyunk Roxborough, Kelly Drive, and the Parkway on Sunday. The Dragon Boat Regatta will be taking place along the Schuylkill all Day Saturday, iradiophilly will be at the Haverford Heritage Festival along Karakung Drive in Havertown Sunday so get out and enjoy the weather this weekend.

Philadelphia Feeding Ban, School Budget Passes Amid Protest, Tire Slashing Returns

Philadelphia's outdoor feeding ban goes into effect today. The ban outlaws feedings of large numbers of homeless people on City parkland. Affected by the ban are popular tourist areas Love Park and Ben Franklin Parkway.

Amid shouting protests from teachers, the School Reform Commission approved a $2.5 billion school budget. Protesters believe the tighter budget shortchanges students. Supporters call it the first step in making schools fiscally sustainable.

Michelle Obama Visits Philadelphia, SRC Passes Budget, SEPTA Worker Killed

First lady Michelle Obama is scheduled to visit Philadelphia next week for a campaign event. Her office said she will meet with campaign volunteers next Wednesday, but gave no other details. She last visited Pennsylvania in April.

The jury in the federal corruption trial against former senator and two time democractic presidential candidate John Edwards came back deadlocked on all but one of the felony charges brought against him after nine days of deliberations. Edwards is accused of misappropriating close to $1 million in campaign donor funds to hide his pregnant mistress during his 2008 presidential campaign. Tased Car Thief Escapes, Septa Employee Shot, Final Arguments in Clergy Abuse Trial

Philadelphia police are looking for a man who flipped a stolen SUV, fled on foot, got tasered by an officer, then stole another car and escaped. It happened early this morning in Spring Garden after police ran the tags on the SUV and tried to pull it over. After the driver was tased, he stole the car of someone who pulled over to help.

Homeless Victim of a Face Eating Miami Man Fights for His Life

Police officers came across a grisly scene Saturday afternoon when they were alerted by a witness. 31 year old Rudy Eugene was eating the face off of 65 year old homeless man Ronald Poppo on a busy Miami highway ramp. Both men were naked and covered in blood. The assailant allegedly growled when officers told him to stop and continued eating the man's face even after shots were fired at him. Eugene was eventually killed by police officers.

Center City Condo Evacuated, Penn State Confident in Future, City Council Wants Bike Lane Control

A water leak at Center City One condos on the 1300 block of Spruce Street in Philadelphia forced more than 200 people to be evacuated. A standpipe broke on the 28th floor and also caused a gas leak. No word yet on how long repairs will take.

Media Courthouse Bomb Threat, Msgr. Lynn continues testimony, Roy Halladay placed on 15-day DL

This morning in Media, the Delaware County Courthouse was evacuated after bomb threat was telephoned into 911 at 9:30 am. The building was evacuated as a precaution and the surrounding area sealed off. More than 45 prisoners were in the courthouse at the time for trials, hearings, etc and were taken back to county prison. Deputies, bomb squad, and bomb sniffing dogs found nothing during their search and court employees went back to work at 1pm.
