Gov Wolf Vetos Ban on Vaccine Passports; 10yo Shot/Killed Accidentally; 2 Bodies Found in Van

Pennsylvania Governor Wolf vetoed a bill on Thursday, 7/1, that would have banned so-called COVID-19 "vaccine passports." The bill also sought to restrict the heath secretary's actions during a health emergency. The bill would have prevented colleges and universities that receive state money from mandating students get the vaccine in order to attend school. State and local government entities could not require the vaccine to receive in-person services. The bill would have limited the health secretary's ability to order physical distancing, mask-wearing, quarantine, or travel restrictions. Proponents of the ban believe providing proof of vaccination status is a violation of health privacy. No true 'vaccine passport' exists, and most establishments have been using the 'honor system.' Governor Wolf, in his veto message, was more concerned with the part of the bill that would remove power from the Health Secretary to enact stringent lockdown orders.
