Johnson/Johnson Vaccine Paused, Blood Clots; Man Stabbed on SEPTA; Wilmington Triple Shooting

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have jointly recommended a 'pause' in the administration of the single-dose Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine. The agencies are calling for an investigation into reports of rare and severe blood clots. There have been 6 reported cases of these blood clots out of 6.8 million J&J doses given in the U.S. so far The six women were between the ages of 18 and 48. The symptoms occurred 6 to 13 days after receiving the shot. Philadelphia area clinics and vaccine sites that have been using the Johnson & Johnson single shot vaccine have all stopped administering the shot per the CDC and FDA's recommendation. Pennsylvania and New Jersey heath officials are holding off until further notice. The Moderna and Pfizer vaccines are still in use.

A man was stabbed multiple times during a robbery attempt on a SEPTA bus early Tuesday morning, 4/13. It happened around 2 a.m. on a SEPTA Market-Frankford shuttle bus at 5th and Spring Garden Streets. The 35-year-old man was stabbed in the neck, chest, knee, and thigh after a verbal altercation with the unknown suspect. Investigators determined it was an attempted robbery. The victim was taken to Jefferson University Hospital and is in stable condition. The suspect got off the bus and fled.

Wilmington Police are investigating a triple shooting on Tuesday afternoon, 4/13. One woman is dead and two others were injured. It happened around 2 p.m. on the 1000 block of Pine Street. A 37-year-old woman was taken to the hospital where she died from her injuries. A 26-year-old woman and a 23-year-old woman were also shot. They were taken to the hospital in stable condition. A police cruiser got into an accident on the way to this shooting. It happened about a mile from the scene involving two other vehicles. Two officers are in the hospital.
