2 Charged Using Explosives in Wawa; Man Who Died on I-676 IDd; Man Dead Before Fire in Somerton

Two people have been indicted for trying to use explosives to rob a Wawa convenience store during the unrest last June following the shooting of George Floyd. It happened on June 5 at the Wawa near the Betsy Ross Bridge in Bridesburg. 65-year-old Desiree Adorno and 34-year-old Michael Fields are charged with conspiracy to use explosive devices to steal lottery tickets and money from the safe. Adorno, Fields, and two others broke into the store and began to steal merchandise. There was no cash in the register. Fields gave the others explosive devices for the lottery machine, safe, ATM, etc. so they could get cash. They were not able to set the bombs off because police arrived. The two unnamed persons fled. Fields was caught hiding under a car and Adorno was caught inside the store. These are federal charges.

The New Jersey Attorney General has identified 26-year-old Rashad Muse of Philadelphia as the man who was struck and killed on I-676 in Camden while fleeing police officers in early February. It happened on February 6. Officers saw a sedan speeding and attempted to pull the driver over. He stopped momentarily and then took off. The driver ended up crashing into an underpass for the highway. He climbed over a fence and ran up an embankment to I-676. He was stuck by multiple civilian vehicles on I-676 and was pronounced dead. "We're glad that the body-worn camera footage was released," Rick Kunkel, president of Camden County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 218 said. "I think it shows that the officers acted properly... They attempted to de-escalate that situation and get him out of the vehicle." The case remains under investigation.

The Philadelphia fire marshal is currently investigating after a man was found lying in a pool of blood inside a burning home. It happened around 7 p.m. Friday, 3/5, on the 11000 block of Greiner Road in the city's Somerton neighborhood. The next door neighbor of the twin house began to smell smoke, but couldn't see any fire on his side. He went next door and tried to get inside, but the 62-year-old man was on the floor right inside the front door. Officials say that separate fires were set, one on the 2nd floor and another in the basement. The investigation is ongoing.
