A car lost control on the icy roads early Sunday morning, 2/14, and ended up down the block on its roof in Philadelphia's Frankford section. It happened around 3:30 a.m. on Bridge Street near Ditman Street. The car was speeding eastbound when it slid on the ice and hit a pole. The car went airborne and struck an awning attached to a home. The car flipped over and landed on its roof. It then skidded down the street on the ice before coming to a stop. The driver was taken to the hospital for injuries. There may be charges. Icy weather is forecast in the area for the next several days.

An Easton woman stabbed herself in a Northampton County courtroom last week after a judge determined she had violated the conditions of her bail and she would be sent to jail. The 59-year-old woman was appearing on charges including aggravated assault by vehicle while under the influence. She had been arrested after an October 27 crash that injured two of her passengers. During Thursday appearance, her attorney waived her pretrial hearing. Northampton County District Judge Robert Hawke then raised her bail and ordered her back to jail after she was found to have violated her previous bail conditions. Hawke had left the bench and was leaving the courtroom when he heard a commotion. The woman had pulled a knife from her bra and stabbed herself twice in the abdomen. She was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest and is expected to recover. She'll be sent to county jail when she is well. District Attorney Terry Houck is investigating whether she will be charged with bringing a weapon into the courtroom.

The Cape May County Zoo announced that its 17-year-old Snow Leopard 'Himani' passed on Friday, 2/12. She had been fighting cancer the past several months. She first came to the zoo in 2009. Himani mothered seven cubs during her lifetime.
