Philadelphia Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle wanted in an hit-and-run accident involving a bicyclist. It was caught on another driver's dash cam video. It happened on Thursday, 1/28, at 10:45 a.m. on the Spring Garden Bridge heading west. The video shows a black BMW in the right lane passing a bicyclist who was in the bike lane. The rider suddenly falls down. The BMW continues and pulls onto the ramp to I-76 West. Cam Pursel was behind them both and caught the incident on his dash cam. He continued to follow the car, until the driver pulled over. "She's like, 'Hey what's going on? Why are you following me?' And I'm like, 'You just hit someone. You should probably go back and see if they're okay.' And she's like, 'I didn't hit anyone,'" said Pursel. "I told her, 'I was right there. I got it on my dash camera.' And she was just like, 'I don't believe you.' And she left."
Pennsylvania law requires motorists give 4-feet of space to bicyclists when passing. Police want the driver and bicyclist to come forward. They have the video and other leads. "We really can't move any further until the person on the bicycle contacts Philadelphia Police and gives us a call to make a report. It's never a good idea to leave the scene of any kind of crash that you might be involved in. You should always call the police department and make the report," Captain Mark Overwise, with the Philadelphia police Accident Investigation Division.
Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney has directed the Philadelphia Department of Public Health to take corrective steps following the Philly Fighting COVID vaccine distribution. Those include holding secondary vaccine clinics for all those who received first doses from PFC, reallocating all remaining first doses from PFC to other health care organizations especially the Black Doctors COVID-19 Consortium, and producing a report in 30 days on how PFC came to work with PDPH. The report should identify weaknesses in the vetting process and provide a set of improvements. These were communicated to Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley directly from the mayor in a letter (see below).
Several Pennsylvania lawmakers are calling on Dr. Farley to resign. "We're asking him to resign and remove himself from that responsibility. We are asking the mayor to support us in our effort," State Sen. Anthony Williams said.
“I feel like I still have things to contribute, but if at any point the mayor feels that he needs to have different leadership at the Health Department, he could ask me to do that and I would be happy to comply,†Farley said. "Ultimately, the responsibility for that goes to me. The report will outline more about the process, but ultimately I take responsibility for that," said Dr. Farley.

The Philadelphia Eagles officially introduced new head coach Nick Sirianni on Friday, 1/29. 39-year-old Siriani comes from the Indianapolis Colt where he was Offensive Coordinator and worked under Frank Reich, the former Eagles Super Bowl winning Offensive Coordinator. Sirianni did not get specific when questioned by reporters. Regarding Carson Wentz and Jalen Hurts he said, "We have two quarterbacks that are top-notch quarterbacks and some teams don’t have any."
"We have to look and evaluate and I'm not ready to say that either way yet. We're just evaluating our players, evaluating every position," Sirianni said. "Every position is going to be open, I guess to say."
"I know from experience from coming here and playing as an opposing coach how passionate the fans are here in Philadelphia. I'm glad we're on the same team now. You're on my side now," Sirianni said.
