Philadelphia Police have released surveillance video of a robbery attack that occurred at a SEPTA subway station that ended with the victim being shot twice. It happened around 8 p.m. on Sunday, 1/24, at the City Hall station of the Broad Street Line. The 18-year-old victim was sitting on a bench at the station when he is approached by a male suspect. The suspect points a gun at him and demands his belongings. When the victim refuses, the suspect pistol whips him on the left side of the face. The victim fights back and punches the suspect in the face. The two begin to struggle on the ground. A second female suspect then appears. She jumps on the victim's back and starts to hit him. During the struggle for the gun, the victim gets shot twice, in the buttocks and groin. He was able to get the gun from the suspects before they fled. UPDATE: Police have arrested the shooter, the search is still on for the 'female co-conspirator.'
Suspect #1: Black male, thin build, 5'10" to 6', wearing a green hoody, black jacket, light-blue jeans, and distinctive black and white colored Chuck Taylor sneakers and armed with a black Taurus 9mm handgun with an extended magazine.
Suspect #2: Black female, 16-18 years-of-age, Wearing a white Khimar.
The older brother of a 9-year-old girl who was shot and killed in their South Philadelphia home is now facing charges in her death. It happened around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, 1/20, on the 2300 block of Bouvier Street. The girl was found in the back bedroom with a gunshot to the right side of her face. She was taken to Temple University Hospital where she died. Her 12-year-old brother and 5-year-old cousin were home at the time. They were unsupervised. Police had already determined that the 5-year-old shot the gun. It is now alleged that her 12-year-old brother gave the gun to the young boy. He will be charged. Two guns were recovered from the home. The father, 39-year-old Blake Davis, has already been charged with involuntary manslaughter, endangering the welfare of children, of corruption of minors, recklessly endangering another person, and illegal firearms violations.
UPDATE: The 12-year-old boy was arrested and charged with Involuntary Manslaughter and Recklessly Endangering Another Person.
Questions still remain for both the City of Philadelphia and the organization Philly Fighting COVID after the city abruptly cut ties with the group on Monday, 1/26. Philadelphia Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley said that PFC had changed their financial structure from non-profit to for-profit and that the updated privacy policy could allow the new business to sell patient data. "They had gone from non-profit to for-profit status. They had information in their incorporation documents that they would have the ability to sell the information from their website. We did not think that was appropriate," said Dr. Farley. (see statements below)
People have begun to question where PFC came from and how it partnered with the city to begin with. It was started last spring by 22-year-old Drexel graduate student Andrei Doroshin and fellow students. They first created 3D printed PPE and then moved on to providing coronavirus testing. PFC then organized the vaccination center at the Convention Center. The city says that they don't have contracts with any of their vaccine partners. They just had to fill out a form. The city is rescheduling second doses for anyone who got their first vaccine from Philly Fighting COVID.
Doroshin says that they have changed the language in their privacy policy so that it says, "The company will not sell data to any parties." However, Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner and Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro released statements seeking information from the public if they feel they have been harmed. Doroshin is also accused of taking several doses of vaccine home from the site for personal use.

The Philadelphia Phillies have resigned free agent catcher J.T. Realmuto to a 5-year, $115 million deal.
No one was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame on this year's ballot. Members of the Baseball Writers' Association of America vote on eligible players each year. Players must receive votes from 75% of members to make it to the hall in Cooperstown. Former Phillies pitcher Curt Schilling finished just 16 votes short. He led the ballot with 71.1%. Barry Bonds (61.8%) and Roger Clemens (61.6%) round out the top three. It was the ninth time appearing on the ballot for each of these players. They have one more chance. Jimmy Rollins and Ryan Howard are eligible for the first time next year.

"Over the past 48 hours there have been several inquiries into Philly Fighting Covid and I would like to formally set the record straight - on the company, our intentions, and our goals in helping the city of Philadelphia.
We started Philly Fighting Covid in 2020 as a group of volunteers with a 3D printer to make PPE for essential workers. Our goal was to help frontline works and use our resources to the best of our abilities. As our team grew, so did our ability to help more people in the fight against COVID, by testing over 20,000 Philadelphians and working with the City's Department of health to ensure essential health care workers, including 6,800 people, have safely received their first of two vaccinations. We are grateful for the Health Department and the opportunity provided.
We understand that there have been legitimate inquiries into our privacy policies. There was language in our privacy policy that was problematic and as soon as we became aware of it, we removed it. I apologize, for the mistake in our privacy policy. We never have and never would sell, share, or disseminate any data we collected as it would be in violation of HIPAA rules.
We are aware that some were taken aback when we pivoted from testing to vaccines and we sincerely apologize for any miscommunications. Our intention was never to cause confusion or harm. From Day 1 our goal was to help as many people as we could and ultimately eradicate this virus. As the vaccine became available for distribution, we did not have enough resources to do both and made a choice to vaccinate as many people as quickly as possible, as we believe that is what will help end this pandemic.
Vaccinating large groups of people takes resources, manpower, and ultimately financial help. That is why we also shifted gears to a for-profit company - so that we could expand our operations team and accelerate the vaccine distribution. We never hid our intentions with the city and were making the change for good reasons. We included the new company in the RFP we submitted to the city last week. We have always intended on scaling up the number of clinics to eventually vaccinate more people (we have been working for months on plans to scale-up vaccinations and have shared them with the city) and money is needed to do that.

Statement from the Philadelphia Department of Public Health:
"The Philadelphia Department of Public Health will no longer work with Philly Fighting COVID to provide testing or vaccine, effective immediately. We have recently been made aware of a change in PFC's corporate status that took place without our knowledge, from nonprofit to for-profit. As part of this change, PFC updated its data privacy policy in a way that could allow the organization to sell data collected through PFC's pre-registration site. The City has not been notified of any of these data having been sold. But for PFC to have made these changes without discussion with the City is extremely troubling. As a result of these concerns, along with PFC's unexpected stoppage of testing operations, the Health Department has decided to stop providing vaccine to PFC.
The Health Department is currently developing plans to shift future vaccine allocations to other providers, and is scheduling new clinics to ensure that people who were vaccinated at PFC's clinics at the Convention Center can get their second dose. The Health Department will be in contact with each of those people to set up appointments.
In order to ensure that the Health Department is aware of each Philadelphia resident who is interested in receiving vaccine, the City strongly recommends that people who wish to express their interest in vaccination do so in the City's portal at
