iradiophilly is now 10 years old!
On November 12, 2010, we launched the first stations to the public and published our first story on The Post. That first story asked for music submissions from local artists to be played on the then BYO station, now called Local Stage. The idea, development, research, and proof of concept for iradiophilly had been brewing for about 1 1/2 prior, but that was the day it all went LIVE. So much has happened in Philadelphia in the past decade and we are glad to have brought you through it.
It has always been about the music. "Streaming Radio for Philadelphia More Music. Fewer Interruptions. Just what you want to hear." We started with a handful of stations and grew the roster to include a wide array of genres. The current menu includes: Bandstand, Bellbottoms, Mistletoe (Halloween/St. Patricks), Local Stage, The Plateau, Iris, and Martini Lounge Radio. We also carry Philly indie rock station Y-Not Radio. We have specialty shows Michael Tearson's Marconi Experiment and the ATTIC each weekend and on podcast. You can listen on our website (desktop or mobile), iradiophilly mobile app (iOS or Android), TuneIn, smart speaker, internet radio, and many other places.
In the past we've had Skin Radio, Eleven, Symphony, Libra, Ziggy, Eight Ball, Mustang, Sapphire, Slick, Rift, Trinity, Hang, Jamz, Laugh Tracks, Pulsations, and Magic.
Over the years we've hit the streets, fields, and venues to bring you live broadcasts of concerts, festivals, and events from around the area. Here are a few of the shows and recurring festivals we've been involved with over the years: 2nd Street Fest, Sundrop Music and Arts Fest, Haverford Music Fest, Narberth Music Fest, Philadelphia Folk Festival, Paoli Blues Fest, Delaware County Symphony, Phoenixville Firebird Fest, Haverford High School Jazz, Walla Fest, PW Concerts in the Park, Haverford Homecoming Concert, Rock the Mill Music Fest, Haverford Spring Fest, Bryn Mawr Twilight Series, PHL Live Center Stage, Haverford Concerts in the Park, Martini Lounge Dance, Gobble Jam!, Wayne Music Festival, Running of the Santas, Running of the Micks, Yo South Philly Phestival, A Day of nicethings, Havertown Irish Festival, Hope and Fury Concert Series, Philly Music Fest, HaverTalian Festival, and Amplify Philly SXSW.
Besides musical events we've done live broadcasts of special events including: Pope John Paul II High School Athletics, Saint Joseph's University Men's Basketball, Philly Hip Hop Awards, Tri-State Indie Awards, Installation Mass of Archbishop Nelson Perez, World Meeting of Families / Papal Visit, and Philly Tech Week.
Sometimes we just go cover events and have reported from nearly every venue in Philadelphia and events like Firefly Music Festival, Made in America, Philly Tech Week, B.PHL, PA Conference of Women, and SXSW.
The Post contains headline news, culture, and sports. The big headlines of the day, easy to read, just the facts. In 10 years, there have been a lot of stories. Philadelphia played host to the DNC, the Pope, Super Bowl champs, and two NCAA Championships. Superstorm Sandy, Bill Cosby, Meek Mill, opioids, homicides, Gritty, Comcast towers. The past 8 months have had enough headlines for years.
iradiophilly started out as Internet Radio Partners, LLC. Two years ago, iradiophilly changed to a 501(c)(3) non-profit. We could use your support to continue to play the music, publish the news, and broadcast live events (when they come back). Donate today! Tell your friends.
