Delaware State Police have arrested the ex-boyfriend of a teenager who was found dead after going missing over the weekend. 19-year-old Noah Sharp of Newark is charged with murder, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, and conspiracy in the death of 17-year-old Madison Sparrow. Sparrow was reported missing by her family around 8:30 p.m on Friday, 10/2. Her body was found on Monday afternoon, 10/5. Police say that she died from blunt force trauma and that her body was transported to a secluded wooded location. Sharp is being held at Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $1,021,000.00 cash bail.
Montgomery County officials announced on Tuesday, 10/6, that they have arrested the father of a 10-month-old girl in connection to her death over the weekend. 29-year-old Austin Stevens is charged with involuntary deviant sexual intercourse, aggravated assault, and other charges in the death of Zara Scruggs. Police responded to a 911 call at about 10:40 p.m. on Saturday, 10/3, on the 3400 block of Germantown Road in Lower Providence Township. The unresponsive infant girl was transported to Einstein Medical Center in Montgomery County. She died shortly after midnight. She had been wearing a blood-soaked diaper and an autopsy revealed she was the victim of a sexual assault. A search warrant of Stevens' phone revealed Google searches for "how do you know if a baby is dead," "if baby stops breathing," "what if you don't hear baby heart or beat," and "my baby isn't breathing." Those searches were made nearly an hour before he called 911. Stevens is being held at Montgomery County Correctional Facility on $1 million bail. He was an assistant coach for the Lower Providence Warriors football team. If you know of any other acts of abuse connected to Stevens, contact police.
"This case is deeply disturbing. It is hard to imagine this child's death being any more traumatic: sexual assault on an infant, followed by inaction by the father to save her life, led to her death," said Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele.
Police in Bucks County have arrested a man wanted for firing shots behind a public high school last month while after school activities and sports were taking place. 22-year-old Cameron George Scurry of Lansdowne, Delaware County, was charged with aggravated assault and carrying a firearm without a license after turning himself in to Warminster Police on Monday, 10/5. It happened around 5 p.m. on September 23 at William Tennent High School. Scurry told police that he had gone to the area of the school for a drug deal. He admitted to chasing someone and shooting at them behind the school. He surrendered the 9mm hand gun used in the shooting. Police had previously found Scurry's iPhone that was left at the scene. He has a preliminary hearing on December 10.
