Shooters 'Box In' Victim, Video; Appeals Court Restores PA Gathering Sizes; Overdose in Parkway Camp

Philadelphia Police are searching for three suspects wanted in a shooting in Queen Village in South Philadelphia. It happened around 12:15 a.m. on September 22. Police released surveillance video of the incident. Three cars can be seen following the victim's car along the 800 block of South 2nd Street. Two of the suspects' cars attempt to 'box in' the suspect at the intersection of 2nd Street and Christian Street. The victim is able to slip away. Three suspects get out of the cars and fire shots as the victim drives away. If you have any information, contact police at 215-686-3013/3014.

The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has temporarily restored Pennsylvania Governor Wolf's coronavirus COVID-19 restrictions on indoor and outdoor gathering sizes while the state appeals a lower court's order saying calling them unconstitutional. The Wolf administration limits indoor gatherings to 25 people and outdoor gatherings to 250. Last month, U.S. District Judge William Stickman IV ruled that the administration's stay-at-home orders, 'non-essential' business closures, and the restrictions on gathering sizes were unconstitutional. The stay-at-home order and business closures had already been lifted, but size limitations continued to be in place. Judge Stickman also denied the administration a stay on his decision while it appealed. With the restrictions now back in place, anyone who had begun to make plans for larger gatherings must now reconsider. Some school districts planned to allow more spectators at high school football games by giving tickets to parents and practicing social distancing.

Philadelphia Police are investigating after a woman died of an overdose at the homeless protest encampment on the Ben Franklin Parkway early Thursday morning, 10/1. The unidentified woman was discovered just after 12:30 a.m. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Last weekend, camp organizers announced they had reached a temporary agreement with the City. The City said that many details need to be worked out, including a date the encampments will be disbanded, before they can come to a resolution.
