Bloomsburg University, part of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, announced that it will be moving to full remote learning after 90 people have tested positive for coronavirus COVID-19. All but one of those case are students. "Unfortunately, the circumstances have changed, and we have seen a concerning trend in positive COVID-19 cases within the BU community," Bloomsburg University President Bashar W. Hanna wrote. "After consultation with my leadership team, the members of our Council of Trustees, and the Office of the Chancellor, I have decided that, effective Monday, August 31, BU will transition to remote learning for all courses in progress." Bloomsburg was already running a hybrid of in-person and virtual classes. Students will not be required to leave residence halls, but will be reimbursed fees if they do decide to leave. Also, all on-campus clubs and activities are directed to suspend in-person activities, but virtual events are ok. A decision for the third session of the Fall Semester (Oct. 7- Nov. 24) will be made by September 21.
